Service: Prototyping

Rapid Prototyping

A prototype answers a question: does the part fit, does it work, does it feel right in the hand. We print prototypes in days from our Kelowna farm, so Okanagan companies can iterate in person and everyone else can iterate by courier.

When the design settles, the same file, the same material, and the same shop take it to production.

From file or from scratch

If you have an STL, STEP, OBJ, or 3MF file, we print from it directly. If you have a sketch, a photo, or a broken original, our design help turns it into a printable model first. Either way, you approve the design before anything prints.

Choosing the right prototype

Early concept models run in PLA because it is fast and cheap to revise. Functional prototypes should run in the material the final part will use, whether that is PETG, ASA, TPU, or a carbon fiber reinforced filament, so the test actually tells you something. High-detail resin covers parts where surface finish and fine features are the question.

Iteration without the wait

Because the machines are in Kelowna and not overseas, a revision cycle is measured in days. Local clients can have a version delivered, review it, and have the next one printing the same week, and the quote for each revision comes back within one business day.

We serve businesses in Kelowna and the Okanagan, all from our Kelowna print farm. The full list of materials and machines lives in our capabilities overview.

FAQ

Prototyping Questions

What businesses ask us about prototyping.

How fast can I get a prototype?

Simple prototypes often print within days of quote approval, and the quote itself comes back within one business day. Complex or large parts take longer, and your quote gives the real date.

What if my prototype needs changes?

Revisions are normal, and most projects plan for a few. Send the updated file, or describe the change if we did the design work, and we will quote the next round quickly.

Can you prototype and then manufacture the same part?

That is the point of prototyping with a production shop. The tuned profile from your prototype carries straight into the production run, so what you tested is what you get at volume.
